Returning home to their Temple Beth-El family and community, the Rabbis Feldman will reflect upon lessons learned during the past year and a half while living in Israel through wars and stroke recovery.
Please note: Rabbis Meir and Tara will be joining us starting at 7 p.m. for Erev Shabbat service and for the special Oneg reception, to follow.

5:30 p.m. Congregational Shabbat Dinner
The entire community is invited to enjoy a delicious Israeli themed-Shabbat dinner from TBE’s in-house caterer, W Kosher Events.
Enjoy a cold buffet with Caesar Salad, Couscous Salad, Mediterranean Eggplant Salad, and Israeli Salad. Hot chafing dishes will include Parigot Chicken, Arayes (meat filled pita), Braised Haricot Vert, Basmati Rice, and Chickpea Stew. Enjoy seasonal fresh fruit, berries and assorted sweets for dessert.
Dinner is $25 for not-yet members, $18 for TBE members and free for children younger than 18.

The angels ascending and descending on Jacob’s dream-ladder are interpreted in many ways: empires that rise and fall, those who depart from and turn to the land of Israel, our personal spiritual cycles of ascent and descent and more. As the world shifts rapidly around us, as old realities seem to fade away and new challenges emerge, what teachings can we glean from Jacob’s dream?
Rabbi Tara Feldman will lead the discussion.

Immediately following Torah Study, we gather in the Rudin Chapel for Shabbat morning prayer. Torah is read if a minyan (10 adults or more) is present.

This week’s haftarah speaks of a bitter break between the Jewish people and God. It continues with Hosea’s promise of a covenant restored and our people’s ultimate return to Zion. In our current day, we are experiencing similar alienation. The subjects of Zionism and Israel can be sources of pain and fracture between Israeli Jews and those in the diaspora. Is the divide too deep to bridge? How can we address these rifts in order to promote deeper mutual understanding? Can we find ways to support one another with the healing covenant envisioned by Hosea? To address these challenges, Rabbis Meir and Tara will share aspects of their lived experiences in Israel and in North America.
