Brotherhood Presents: Understanding the Importance of Emotional Self-Care

There is a greater understanding of the impact of stress on both physical and mental health. Self-care is now a personal responsibility that each of us needs to accomplish in order to remain optimistic and to be able to flourish. A review of mental health concerns and how to overcome the challenges will be reviewed.

Victor M. Fornari, M.D., M.S. is the Vice Chair, Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, including the Zucker Hillside Hospital & the Cohen Children’s Medical Center. He is also Professor of Psychiatry & Pediatrics at the Donald & Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. Dr. Fornari is a recent recipient of Northwell Health Recognition Awards 2025 President’s Award—Physician of the Year, and Truly Mentorship Award.

Dr. Fornari is the co-editor of the book Evidence Based Treatments for Eating Disorders: Children, Adolescent & Adults (Nova Science Press: 2009 & 2014) and well as editor of Psychiatric Nonadherence: A Solutions Based Approach (Springer, 2019) and Pediatric Nonadherence: A Solution’s Based Approach (Spring, 2024). Dr. Fornari was the president of American Association of Directors of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry (2018-2020).
