Pride Shabbat

Friday, June 14, 2024
6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Guest speaker Robert Zimmerman, businessman and political advocate from Great Neck will give a guest sermon: “As We Celebrate Pride, How Do We Overcome Prejudice?” He will discuss his personal experiences, Judaism, history, progress and today’s challenges.

Growing up as a closeted gay kid in the suburbs, Robert struggled to find his voice and was motivated to speak up for others who also were unseen and unheard.

Robert began his career as a Congressional staffer and advisor for then-Rep. Lester Wolff and later Reps. James Scheuer and Gary Ackerman. From Capitol Hill, Robert’s career took him to the TV networks, where he’s served as an on-air advocate and analyst on the national agenda. In addition to previously serving as President of the Great Neck Chapter of B’nai B’rith and President of the Long Island Division of the American Jewish Congress, Robert was nominated by President Clinton and President Obama to Presidential Commissions and served on the Board of the American Museum of Natural History as a government representative. Robert presently serves as a Democratic National Committeeman from New York and was the Democratic nominee for Congress in 2022.

Robert co-founded his business, ZE Creative Communications, now in its 34th year, in the same community in which he was raised and still resides. He is a product of Great Neck Public Schools, graduated cum laude from Brandeis University, and received his MBA from Fordham University.
