Erev Shabbat honoring Arlene Nevens

Join us for Erev Shabbat services when congregant Arlene Nevens presents a guest sermon.

“I came to Temple Beth-El during a dark time of my life, seeking spiritual solace,” says Nevens. “I found that and so much more—total strangers (but not for long) calling to see how I was; Soupers delivering sustenance to me during my COVID-limited Shiva—a community.” The longtime Great Neck librarian can often be seen volunteering throughout the temple, whether using her experience to help in the library, working in the main office or making congregants feel at home.
