  explore the transformations Jewish communities and Judaism underwent afte
 r the emergence of Christianity as a world-historical force. We will consi
 der the ways Jews both sought to acculturate (adopt the ideas and practice
 s of the majority) and differentiate themselves. Special emphasis will be 
 placed on the origins of Christianity and rabbinic Judaism\, economic inte
 rrelationships\, anti-Judaism and Anti-Semitism\, and Zionism and modern J
