The Caring Community is an umbrella organization for several committees consisting of caring individuals and professionals who are working together to meet the needs of our congregants.

The Caring Community committees have been working this summer, providing support to the congregation.

Here is a brief description of our committees:

Annual Florida Reunion: Arranges the annual meeting with Florida members. Bereavement Support: provides support for those who have lost a spouse or a child. Annual Florida Reunion: arranges a get- together for those in Florida to renew their ties. Bikurim: provides visits to the homebound by trained volunteers. Care Baskets: arranges for a food basket to be sent to a grieving family. Care Calls: calls recuperating or homebound members. Care Cards: sends a handwritten note to acknowledge a significant event. Congratulatory Uniongrams: sends congratulations to confirmands and graduates. Driving Service: provides transportation to the Temple for those unable to drive. Gesher: trained volunteers periodically call the bereaved spouse. GLIC: arranges programs for gays and lesbians in Temple. Minyan Group: conducts minyan services during Shiva period. Rosh Hashanah Greeting: sent each year to members no longer living in Great Neck. Round Table: arranges for a monthly discussion. Shabbat Bags: delivered to members each week in local hospitals. Shabbat Dinner: periodically arranges for Friday evening meals at the Temple. Share Your Seder: at Passover, matches individuals whose friends and families are not in the area with Temple hosts. Video Taping: arranges for taping of Friday night services to allow homebound or those in local hospitals to view. Yom Kippur Break the Fast: matches individuals whose families are not in the area with Temple hosts.
